Kagoshima
Kagoshima, Japan, is on Kyushu (the southernmost major island) and is
known as the Naples of the East because of the active volcano
Sakurajima, on the other side of the bay.
Because of some immigration delays, we didn't get to see as much of
this area as we had planned.

These drummers came out to give the ship a good sent-off.
Hokkaido

We landed in
Muroran and rented a car to drive around the nearby national parks.
This is Toyo-ko lake, with Mount Yotei-zan in the background.

This is Mount Showashinzan, a volcano that started erupting in the early 1940's. It's still very active (see below).
